I like watching vlogger’s “My Favorite Things” videos. The first week of the month, I have all these “My Favorite Things” videos from beauty bloggers flood my feed and I get excited to wash the dishes and listen to these women rave about face cream or some value pack smoothie mix you can find on Amazon.
Because I am sick (again) and I just want to hear the clickety-clack of my keyboard, here’s my favorite things from this past month.
My Favorite Things
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency was a book series created by Douglas Adams and is adapted for television by Max Landis. It’s on BBC America and it’s a zany show that keep you guessing what’s going to happen next. People disappear and are replaced with puddles, a crazy vagabond who cannot die or be locked in, and an alternate universe with knights who have pink hair and fight with ginormous scissors swords, which is kind of brilliant if you think about it… After watching superhero shows, true crime shows, and zombies, sometimes it’s good to settle into a Douglas Adams’ inspired story that makes absolutely no sense until the final episode. Also I’ve always had a strange attraction to Max Landis.
You bet your ass I was one of those people who bought the Instant Pot on Black Friday. I needed a new slow cooker anyway. It’s not much of a rice cooker, but it cooks food fast when I need it now and most importantly, when my toddler is yelling for “RICE BALLS!”.
My cat ring holder
My mother-in-law bought me a cat ring holder. She knows that I would be a full on cat lady if I wasn’t married to her son. I don’t know where she got it from, but it’s adorable and is the cutest thing on my desk.
I don’t know what’s up with my titling, but I think my medicine is kicking in. Melissa and Doug is the kind of toy brand that is attainable enough that you don’t bat an eye about spending the cash monies, but they’re wooden and feel fancy enough that you feel like a really good fancy parent who also feeds her kid organic yogurt.
Miles and I love to pretend we’re cooking with his set. He’ll cut up the vegetables and we’ll throw them in his Halloween bucket (pot). I’ll tell him to season his food and he’ll run over to his toy box to pull out the salt and pepper shakers (Duplo ice cream cones) and will shake them over the pot. We’ll line up his rubber ducks and serve our soup to our hungry guests. It’s my favorite game to play with him.
I’m one of those assholes who whines about not being able to find my phone, so I’ll ask you to call me and I find it in one of these places:
- Next to me, wrapped in blankets on the couch
- In my purse
- Next to me, camouflaged on the black kitchen counter
- In my closet from when I was watching YouTube earlier that day
Problem SOLVED. It’s a little translucent, so the yellow isn’t constantly demanding attention. It’s a classy neon.
I made this zucchini bread for my parents. It’s not too sweet and there isn’t a whole stick of butter in it like my tried-and-true banana nut bread recipe. Zucchini, you magical vegetable, you make bread and brownies taste so delicious. I like adding 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chips and 1/2 cup of walnuts because you know ya girl loves nuts.
Ok, I will leave you with that. I’m doubling up on NyQuil and sleeping until all the snow melts in Atlanta.
